This year The Hannah Chamberlain Foundation (THCF) celebrates it’s 5th birthday. So in true THCF style we held a huge party at the Ageas Bowl. As one of 7 trustee’s we set up the charity in 2012 in memory of our best friend, sister, niece & daughter – Hannah. We work really hard to raise money in order to fund grants for young people fighting cancer who are being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
The venue is huge and it’s always a tricky thing styling it up to reflect our charity on a very tight budget. We focussed on balloons to add height & lots of throwback instagram style photo’s to celebrate the last 5 years of fundraising.
The biggest tip I can give anyone on a shoestring budget is too plan ahead and buy everything on eBay. The large number 5 balloons retail for roughly £8 in shops nearby but ordering them from sellers in the far east means you can pick them up for under £1.
We used LaLaLab to print all of our instagram style throwback prints. There always seems to be discount codes floating about for sites like this and the service was great. We pinned them under the bar & around the venue to remind people of the amazing sporting accomplishments and previous parties we’ve held.
We created a huge confetti drop after the auction & raffle were complete to mark the start of the party. Using balloons drop bags filled with homemade confetti & balloons it made a real ipact. We picked up some sample wallpapers in gold glitter and cut them up into confetti along with lots of cut up foil sheets for a pretty fall effect.
We created a selfie station using the leftover tickets from over printing stuck onto large board. Props were made by stencilling different shapes and cutting them out of glitter foam.
Finally the much loved sweetie area was created using branded pillow boxes full of a variety of sweets. We had them printed by a company called pixart printing. At the time they had a £100 off for new customers voucher so we managed to get them all for just £1. I highly recommend watching all printing sites as early as possible before your event to grab discounts as soon as they come up.
All in the event raised £3,675 and was a huge success. Now we just need a theme for 2018’s ball.
